Friday I'm in Love!

Even though my pulse is quickening and my anxiety is spiking cause I can sense summer speeding to a halt, I'm still so in love with these things today:

1. Brussel Sprouts

So freaking delicious. Today I sauteed them with onions and used them in a salad with field greens, strawberries, ricotta salata, and a vinaigrette. OMG--so good.

2. These brothers

3. Acupuncture

My dear friend Helen has been seeing Thuy at the Berkeley Community Acupuncture Clinic for a couple years now. She's been urging me to make an appointment for my terrible lower back, but I've hesitated . . . until today! This morning I had my first session, and I think I might love Thuy and her needles as much as Helen does. My back is definitely more relaxed after the treatment, and I'm pretty sure that if I keep it up, there will be long-term results. Also: SO RELAXING. Even if you're a fidgeter like me. Have any of you tried acupuncture?

4. Snail Mail

Lately I've been lovin me some snail mail. In the past couple weeks, I've sent out letters & cards to Marianne, Micaela, Heather, Phoenix, Summer, Kara, Lesley, Tillie, Faiza, and various other non-bloggy friends. I got a lovely reply from Phoenix this week, and can't wait to write her back again. I think I love sending letters just as much as I love receiving them . . . it's so fun, and the process of actually writing is so cathartic.

And lastly . . .

5. Summer B, the beautiful lady behind this Friday I'm in Love Series. She's darling, sweet, endearing, fun, gorgeous, so open-hearted, and an amazing Words with Friends opponent. :) I'm daydreaming of being on some rooftop bar in NYC having cocktails with her this afternoon!

Speaking of which, I'm also pretty in love with the girlfriends I'm hitting the town with tonight. Can't wait to put on my party dress and kick back with a glass of sauvignon blanc at the Beta Lounge!

Happy Friday! XOXO

Ooh, Have a lovely night out painting the town red. I bet you will be so beautiful. Wish I could go with you! I'm extremely jealous of your salad today! And will definitely try acupuncture when I live in the bay area again. My aunt has done it a bit, too, and she's definitely seen benefits.

Much love to you!

I did acupuncture for one year and loved it. Initially I went to relieve headaches and some stomach issues, and it worked like a charm. It was by far the most relaxing hour of my week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh I friggin LOVE brussels sprouts!! Soooo delish. I drizzle em in olive oil, throw some kosher salt on there and roast them for about 25 minutes at 350. Yum-o!

I'm hoping to write you back this weekend :) I love snail mail too!!

Okay Claire. I have been in a romantical affair of the heart with brussel sprouts AND ACUPUNCTURE for SEVEN YEARS!!

My acupuncturist is now one of my best friends. I get it regularly to stay balanced. I was the biggest skeptic and now push it like a dealer pushes crack or whatever a dealer pushes.

It is the BEST! Watch your body and your health change for the better beyond your wildest thoughts. It is a life saver!!

And you have just singlehandedly saved me from eating a pint of ice cream at 1am.

Thank you.
Carrie

i love brussel sprouts, too. too bad my husband has been worthless when it comes to maintaining our garden this year, so our brussel sprouts died almost before they even got started. i would garden myself, but since the garden is so large, it requires towing a massive tank behind the tractor through the woods to fill up at the creek, and i'd surely hit a tree along the way (it's happened before).

i love snail mail, too! i just got something pretty in the mail from micaela yesterday!

Sounds like a wonderful Friday! I have never tried acupuncture, but I would not rule it out--I do believe it would heal!

Snail mail is the best, ecspecially cards and letters! There really is nothing like it.

Thanks for stopping by Mi Vida Bonita!

I know there is nothing to be afraid of, but I am still afraid to try acupuncture. :(

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I just wanted to let you know that the one liner that never smudges even on my lower water line is the Stila Smudge Pot. It's ironic, I know.

Such a cute post! I am also afraid of acupuncture as needles give me the heebie jeebies. We are huge brussel sprout eaters... we just saute them in a cast iron skillet with olive oil till they are crispy and brown and season them with sea salt. It's heaven and even the kiddos eat them.

Will have to check out Summer B! Hope you're enjoying the weekend.

I've never done actupuncture . . . need to do more research about it. And I like brussel sprouts too - there are ways to fix them that make them so yummy!! Have a great weekend darlin!

I love Brussel Sprouts too!! And I thought I was the only one! ;-) But I have this great recipe for them... drizzle olive oil and sea salt on them, put them in the oven on 400 for about 30 mins on a cookie sheet and they turn out outstanding!!

feel the love!

i have never tried brussel sprouts. i find them to be very attractive, but not sure how good they will taste to me. i have been ALL OVER asparagus this summer. just the best thing ever. sauteed with a little olive oil and a lot of chopped garlic. it is just heaven!!!!

and i haven't tried acupuncture, but i would. i don't REALLY want to NEED it, but i keep the thought of it in my back pocket in case pains ever come along! so glad it worked well for you!

I haven't really tried Brussel Sprouts or Acupuncture, probably because both of them scare me a little! Maybe I should give them a chance...

And I love the snail mail idea... I should really do that, getting mail is fun!!

Acupuncture? Ouch. Just seeing that picture scares me. It looks so painful but I have heard about the wonderful things acupuncture could do for you. =)

Oh and about the snail mail? Love love love snail mail too. I think I've been so busy and caught up with using my cellphone and computer that my handwriting has become really awful. Lol. =)

I still think I'd be too scared to do acupuncture but I have only heard amazing things! Also... those brothers are so cute and thank you for liking brussel sprouts! I think they are delicious too! I never have understood why everyone claims they are disgusting.

I want to do acupuncture too....but I think it's harder to find certified Asian style holistic medicine in southern Italy. Right now I'm trying Shiatsu....we'll see how that works for my aches and pains.

I'm glad that it's working for you. I look forward to hearing more about the results.

Acupuncture freaks me out but my mom swears by it. I wish more people would send snail mail, I'm kind of like a little kid at Christmas when I get something in the mail.
