Happy as a Clam!

Last night, after my cuckoo's nest 5th period, I met my beloved friend Brady for dinner.  We went to a local, family-owned Italian place that just soothes my soul with their eggplant penne & Monte Antico red wine.  Brady and I had a long catch-up session that included some good laughs, which is doubtlessly the best antidote to a wack-o day at work.

After a delightful dinner, Brady and I went to another one of my favorite spots, Miam Miam (which I discovered thanks to my beautiful friend Diana!), for some very stylish frozen yogurt (click the link and you'll see what I mean).  Perhaps it was because the evening had been so perfect that I felt compelled to make a spontaneous stop at a Christmas tree lot on my way home.

I'd pretty much decided not to get a tree, because I go home to Georgia on the 19th and my family has trees there.  But something took over me as I passed by all the festive green trees, and I made a sharp turn and found myself parked in the lot!  Not only was there a perfect, medium sized tree waiting for me, ready to be taken home, but I ran into my friend Sarah at the lot!

After a quick stop at the drug store for lights and egg nog, I came home, dragged the tree off the top of my car and up my apartment stairs, and did this:

peep the ornies from Micaela, Faiza, and Lauren!

my living room is a bazillion times happier now

sparkly!

I sat on my couch until 2 in the morning writing Christmas cards, drinking (spiked) egg nog, and tree-gazing.  Anyone wanna come over and bask in its warm glow with me??

All right, gotta hammer through my work day so I can go home and be with my Christmas tree. :)

awww it's so cute and little. I go home on the 18th and don't return until the 28th, and I have a tree... it's essential to getting in the Christmas spirit! Now all we need is the snow! EVerywhere around me is getting hammered (like 1 metre hammered) we're supposed to get 30-40cm on Sunday and I'm STOKED!

Good for you!! I don't have a tree this year... so I just have random ornaments set out all over the place. A tree is a definite MUST in my house next year- especially after seeing yours!
And I'm proud of you for picking one out and then lugging it home all by yourself! Way to go, sista!

YAYAYAYA!!!! I am so happy you went and got one!! Girl I had one up for 3 days before I went home for Christmas one year...and it was the best thing ever. My mother was a resounding gong show and the tree was my only place of solace upon return. Hoping for a better time if I make it this year.

Otherwise let's meet by your tree and drink the spiked nog!

You dragged that thing off the car by yourself? You go girl. I wasn't going to get a tree this year either but luckily my in-laws had an extra in the basement, an old fake one but it's better than nothing!

So so so cute! I not so subtly asked Ryan for a Christmas tree in our new apt, even though we're moving in 6 days before xmas and will literally have NO time to decorate amongst moving and unpacking.

You know homeboy's gonna get it for me.

Aaaaand we're drinking spiked egg nog over here too! Hells to the yeah!!

I love your spontaneity C!! :) I've just read this while sitting in my living room that looks so cold and "unChristmasy" sans tree compared to your place :( Makes me feel like a grinch that Philip and I have not put up a tree in two years even though we don't go anywhere for the holidays! We just enjoy the trees at my mom's and his grandmother's here in town. But after reading how you lugged this tree up the stairs and seeing just how beautiful the twinkling lights and ornaments are makes me want to put one up right this minute to enjoy tree gazing too! Wish I could just pop round yours and enjoy your tree :)

ahhhh i love your tree :) i would totally come over and drink some wine next to the twinkling lights! we aren't doing a tree this year because my wee one leaves for PA on the 20th for two weeks so there really wasn't a point...but i am now rethinking that decision.

FUN! i am loving our tree too with all the twinkly lights. although i am seriously behind on my christmas cards. way to be on top of the holidays! :)

aaahhh....I love it. I did almost the exact same thing the other day Claire! Only my tree is much smaller. There is something about decorating your home, trimming a tree, listening to some tunes, while sipping eggnog that makes it really feel like Christmas. I sit and admire my tree every night too!

seriously? i need to get me a snuggie and come on over pronto! your tree is gorgeous. i love it all lit up!
