Jingle all the way?

It's December 1st, y'all!  Which means that watching cheesy Christmas movies and listening to Christmas albums in the kitchen is totally acceptable now.  And Christmas cards!  I'm so excited.  I've already bought mine and can't wait to write them and send 'em out!

Last night I celebrated December Eve by knitting a scarf and watching Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Have I mentioned the massive crush I had on Macaulay Culkin as a kid?  My childhood BFF Susanne and I took pictures of ourselves with just a scarf wrapped around our (non) chests when we were around 11 or 12 and mailed them to Macaulay.  Ohhhhhh childhood fantasies.  Gone awry. ;)

And then my sister and I saw him in a tiny coffee shop in London once!  I stared into my latte and nervously debated saying something but just couldn't bring myself to bust out with "Hey Macaulay!  My Girl changed my life!  I am Vada Sultenfuss!"

the golden days

sometimes good things go very wrong

In any case, it seems all I want to do is rock out to Xmas tunes and watch festive movies.  And beg y'all for gift ideas since my brother-in-law and stepdad are so dang hard to shop for!

But there is one thing stopping me.  This, ladies and gentlemen, is a just-snapped picture of my desk:

And it's not even finals yet.

These 2 pics of Culkin are the best juxtaposition ever! I love that your childhood BFF and you sent those photos - and soo surreal you spotted him in a London coffee shop. (I never once saw anyone famous on a London street, in all those years going back and forth :))

My mind feels like your desk right now!

oh mac, you had such promise...

hey i'm from san francisco and i used to work as a therapist at civic center secondary school! i loved my gangsta kids! a bunch of my therapist friends worked at the wellness centers in a ton of high schools there. what school are you at? or if you'd rather not say online, that's fine too, but it warmed my heart to read that you're a teacher there. yay! :)

also, i say you can't go wrong with gift cards to amazon or a real life store you know the men in your life like. that's what i always do. or if there are little things you know they like you can get something related (are they coffee drinkers? get gourmet coffee. do they like sports? get tickets to a game. that sort of thing.). i know it's easier said than done though, boys are usually a lot harder to buy for.

Claire I giggle through this whole post esp about the picture with your bff! :) Your childhood crush on Mac is too adorable! Micaela and I did crazy things like that for our childhood celebrity crushes too (although she's carried her crush on Robbie into adulthood hahaha) He was such a cutie in Michael Jackson's "Black or White" video :) Home Alone always gets me into the holiday spirit :) Such a classic :) I never get to run into anyone famous randomly - how lucky you got to run into your girlhood crush in my favourite city of them all!! You know thinking that happened in London got me to thinking that I perhaps too walked by someone famous there and maybe didn't even notice because I was SO taken by just being there! haha like OMG! There's BIG BEN!!! and at that moment Britney Spears, the great love of my life, prob walked right past me but I was too busy being in love with the sights around me :) haha THAT'S how much I love London :)
p.s. That's EXACTLY how my desk at work looks like...this week was INSANE! Which is why I am just now reading this post :( I've missed you!!! xo

Claire - next time I'm in San Fran, we should arrange for a blogger meet up, I would love to meet you in person!

I have also started to make my way through my Christmas movie list - I have already watched The Family Stone and This Christmas (which I love, it's the one with Chris Brown). I still need to watch Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually and many more...
