Festive.

Today I am sporting my red Miu Miu slingbacks*:

and this little headband in my hair:

toting these for my lil' monster-students:

and with copies of this poem to share with them:

First Poem for You**
            Kim Addonizio

I like to touch your tattoos in complete
darkness, where I can't see them.  I'm sure of
where they are, know by heart the neat
lines of lightning pulsing just above
your nipple, can find, as if by instinct, the blue
swirls of water on your shoulder where a serpent
twists, facing a dragon.  When I pull you
to me, taking you until we're spent
and quiet on the sheets, I love to kiss
the pictures in your skin.  They'll last until
you're seared to ashes; whatever persists
or turns to pain between us, they will still
be there.  Such permanence is terrifying.
So I touch them in the dark; but touch them, trying.

Seriously: what's not to love about Valentine's Day?  However, my Valentine's Day promises to be quite untraditional, as instead of savoring a romantic dinner tonight, I will be teaching love poems at San Quentin State Prison.  What a hilarious place to spend the day of love!  It will certainly remind me that there are far worse positions to be in than dateless. ;)

What are y'all up to today??

*Let it be known that I will not be wearing said Miu Miu slingbacks to the prison tonight.
**Did you notice it's a perfect Shakespearean sonnet?

I love your shoes & headband!! It's so cute!! Wow what a great poem. My boyfriend has dragon tattoos on his back and arms so this reminded me of him. I made him the strawberries in my last post! =) Happy Valentine's day girl! Have a great day!! =)

that poem is fabulous...reminds me of e and his ink, though no lightning bolt above his nipple. ;)

I heart that headband! So festive!!
I realized this morning that I own one red shirt and it was too wrinkled to deal with, therefore I am not festive in the least!
This post made me crave a cupcake :)

Ooh, love how festive you are! I think it's a great place to spend valentine's day...spreading the love around to some people who could probably use a little more love in their life!

I wish I had some sexy red heels and an adorable heart headband to wear, but I did wear one of the only red shirts I do own under a pink tanktop so I tried to be festive today as well :) That poem is absolutely beautiful! It reminded me of someone (a tatted up boy from "my box") who was my Valentine once. The words are so sensual :)

"Few worse positions to be then dateless" cracked me up :)

I love you Claire my sweet! xoxo

you and your shoes and headband are TOO CUTE!!!
I'm doing counseling sessions and a multi-family session until 9 tonight. so my "romantic" evening will be my husband ordering chinese so we can eat and go to bed. we will probably light candles and watch a movie just to try to make it seem like we arent too busy haha

Tonight I have nothing special planned, mindless TV, some pinot noir, and my pup. I'm leaving the love and drama for The Bachelor ;)

I'm so glad you are rocking the red pumps today. It's melting-snow-central over here, so I sadly had to wear the snow boots still.

When you said lil' monsters, it made me think of Lady Gaga for some reason :)

Happy Valentine's Day, Claire!

That poem is beautiful. I knew I was in love with my now husband when 12 years ago he wrote me a poem in iambic pentameter. Amazing girl! Your V-day party sounds like a ton of fun!! :)
