Shredded

Happy June!

I'm not really shredded (yet), but I did finish the 30 Day Shred!  I did it in 5 weeks: 6 days a week, taking Thursdays off (my Thursday schedule during the school year is crazy).

Gotta say, annoying as she is, Jillian knows what she's talking about.  Granted, I've also been eating meticulously over the past month and a half (and thanks to My Fitness Pal, I know everything I've consumed over the past 5 or so weeks), but I think this really works.  I don't have a scale so I'm not sure what my weight difference is, but I put on a pair of jeans the other day that haven't fit in over a year.  And I can see a lot of definition in my legs.

My motivation?  BATHING SUIT SEASON.  Yikes!

Swooning over this one from Anthropologie, but not having a lot of luck elsewhere.  Where have you gotten your bathing suits this season?

Now that the 30 Day Shred is done, I need some new goals.  Thinking of starting here:

1. Exercise 4 days a week
2. Read ten books this summer
3. Send poems out to literary journals (two submissions per week)
4. Call my grandma weekly
5. Create an account at mint.com and/or read the book that my friend Christina recommended, Total Money Makeover, in order to start being an adult about finances.

What's in store for you this month?

Congrats! I just started again. I've been so bad about My Fitness Pal but I'm trying to get back into it, but it is a great app isn't it? Mint is awesome, it really helped me see where my money was going.

My bathing suit? I gave it away in 1990. :)

Congratulations on the new defined body -- it's an awesome feeling to fit into clothes that you haven't worn in a year or two. *smiles*

You have great goals --- that's enough to keep you busy.

Hugs.

CHEERS TO YOUR 30 DAY SHRED!!! i really am so proud of you! i did the fitness pal and was mortified with how bad i ate that i'm ashamed to admit, i didn't keep up with it! LOL

that bathing suit? gorgeous! i wish i had your boobs ;)

will you please do a review of books you've read? (that will also help you to be accountable right? so win win!) i just discovered a used bookshop near our house and it's love at first sight! i can't wait to send out books for the book swap too!!!

13 days and counting! <3 love you and thank you for being my muse for my post today. xoxo

Congrats on finishing the Shred! It certainly is no easy feat! You should totally get that swimsuit and rock it! Way to go, girl!

Good for you! Working out has definitely taken a backseat for me lately (doesn't help that it's literally 97 degrees here and I don't want to do anything). Gotta get back in there!

I've been finding a ton of cute (and cheap!) suits at Target this season! Love the anthro one too!

Wow--you finished the shred?! Enjoy your new hot body! :)

Jillian is AMAZING. I just bought Shred a few weeks ago, and while I haven't been committed to it on a daily basis, I've done about 3 times/week. And it is TOUGH, right? :) I thought it was going to be a breeze, but yikes mama. It was brutal!

After hearing that it was 100% effective for you, I will totally commit to it daily once I return from vacation!

Congrats on completing it...that is no easy task!

Anthro has the CUTEST suits. Sadly I don't have any. A dear friend of ours picks out some of the bathing suits for Victoria's Secret swim and she has hooked me up with a ton of freebies, so I tend to try and pay it back by buying from them each summer. I've missed your blog (my fault, not yours). Off to read more!

Ooh sounds like your so ready for that bathing suit :)
I have never tried one of Jillian's workouts before but I'm definitely going to have to try it out now!

Jillian is so scary. haha I did the DVD of hers I have yesterday morning and today I could hardly get up and down out of chairs. But going to wake up and do it tomorrow regardless! Honestly, though, bathing suit season can kiss my ass.

Congrats on finishing!! I really want to do the shred but cant find the dvd here anywher, I think I will try and order it online. Love your summer goals, I need to ring my grandparents more, I might steal this goal too!

awesome! i actually still do the 30 day shred, almost a year later. it's a great way to keep everything toned up, and if you just get new weights, you can still build muscle. of course i also throw in wild dance parties in the privacy of my living room for extra cardio. :)

Way to go! I've yet to stay consistent with it. . . but this definitely has me motivated to give it a try again!!

I commend you on completing that. I think I will have to try that 30 Day Shred. Also learn to eat better and exercise more.

I like the sound of your goals and I'm sure that you will be able to complete them all. x

That's so awesome girl! The Shred is no joke and it's hard! I've had the dvd for a year and I never make it past level 2. That beast is hard!

I swear by Mint.com it's been able to help me meet my goals for this year so far on saving!

I have to start walking to and from work. I also must exercise more. I would like to read lots of books and also pick up a hobby that will keep me outdoors. Oh and I want to drink lots of beer.

I am SOOOO proud of you!! :) I've always wanted to try it, but I'm always too scared I won't have the dedication to do something on my own if I'm not actually at the gym and away from distractions at home. That's why running is okay because I have to be outside doing it. Good for you and your dedication! I on the other hand have been eating HORRIBLY!!! I need to get that under control since my sister's wedding is less than two months away!!! :/ I need to look into this "My Fitness Pal" - is it just an iphone thing or can I get it on blackberry?

I also need to get my finances together. I hate thinking about it! :( My co-worker told me about mint.com but I'm too scared to really see how I spend my money lol

That bathing suit is gorgeous! You would look beautiful in it!

I can't wait to see you!!!!!! :) SOON!!! Eeeek :) I'm so ready! :) xoxo

Happy Weekend my love!

Whohoo, nice job on the shredding and I love your goals - that is so sweet to call your Grandma once a week and my goal is to work out 4 days a week as well - we can do it!

Krystal said...

I am super impressed that you finished the shred!! i haven't been able to do it consistently for more than a few days, haha :) but i am running and other things so i do her strength and abs most of the days.
p.s. the dave ramsey total money makeover is amazing. that's what me and mark have used for a long time now and it's been really good

Megan said...

Congratulations on finishing the shred! I don't know anybody who has done that! I love the bathing suit, and I love the goals.

How weird is this? I was looking at my old yelp account from when Jacob was living in Oakland, and I was staying with him, and I noticed I had two "friends." One of them was Claire K... you! I think we must have commented on each other's stuff or something way back a few years ago. Crazy!

Faiza said...

way to go on completing the shred! so proud of you! woot!

i love your new goals especially where you put yourself and your poetry out there. calling grandma weekly will be wonderful for both of you.

you are wonderful!

that bathing suit is adorable and im sure youd look fab in it with or without any shredding :) i just moved out of SF and realize now how hard it was for me to be fit and active there because the weather always made me want to drink hot chocolate and cozy up inside.

Down and Out Chic said...

that bathing suit is one of my favorites too. i'm still on the third phase of the shred. i'm getting a touch bored with jillian and her annoying ways but i do feel much stronger! i think i'll be incorporating the video into my regular workout routine.

Claire where are you? I miss you! It's been too long and I wanna high 5 you over the shred. Move here and let's motivate each other to not eat piles of chocolate 6 days a week. I need your heeeelp.
