Let's Talk about Bling

Lane and I have been friends since we were wee young 7th graders.  Our mamas went to high school together, so we'd known each other longer, but we became attached at the hip on the school bus in middle school.

We've been through many adventures together: college, travel, deaths, relationships, weddings, heartbreaks, grad schools, illnesses, etc.

I could fill books with pictures of the two of us.  Those above are a mere fraction.

Here's where I need your help.  Lane and I both turned 30 this summer, and we decided that we'd mark the occasion (and 18 years of friendship!) with matching necklaces.  The problem is, we can't decide on one!  So I need you to hook me up with your favorite jewelry designers/sellers.  Here are some criteria:

*We're looking to spend around $100
*Needs to be something that will last a long time/not turn green/not break/etc.
*I like gold better, but will go for silver if it's the affordable option
*No cheesy hearts or stars ;)

I like these, for instance:

(but Lane already has a wishbone necklace)

an option, maybe?

So help me!!!  If you have any ideas for jewelers, websites, etc., hook me up!  Lane and I have been going back and forth for a couple months now and can't seem to find the one.

Brainstorm: GO!

You can never go wrong with Anthropologie...

What about this one? Simple, gold and has a locket...you could keep a picture of each other in it.

my favorite jewelry designers are:
1. coatt: morse code jewelry. you can pick your own message if you want and they're absolutely gorgeous in real life! {http://coattonline.com/jewelry.html}
2. upper metal class: gorgeous, simple jewelry with real metal. it's more geometric than actual symbols, but totally classy. you could wear them with a lot of different things. {http://www.uppermetalclass.com/}

those are my personal favs. good luck finding "the one" for you two!

I LOVE dogeared jewelry and most are around $50 or so and they have ALOT to choose from, so you're not just stuck with cheesy hearts or stars ;)
the website is http://www.dogeared.com/ but they sell them at Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, and I'm sure Bloomingdales too so that you can just go in and pick something out too!!!

I agree with Brianna.... Dogeared is a wonderful jewelry site that has TONS of different pendants and charms to choose from, and they're reasonably priced too!! I have two necklaces from there and absolutely LOVE them!!

hmmm. this is a good idea. i tend to go for the big and bold jewelry, but it looks like you two are more about subtlety. so i might not be right for this particular task!

p.s. yesterday i found an etsy shop that had necklaces with the word "tw*t" on them. clearly not right for you two, but pretty pretty funny. :)

I say you go classic and head straight to Tiffany's. Nope. Not kidding.

What a sweet and fantastic way to celebrate a special birthday and a very special friendship! It's rare to have a friendship last as long as yours with Lane. I absolutely LOVE looking at all the pictures of you two! You can see how close you two are. Love it! I'm not really a jewelry person. Except for a few pieces, I hardly wear jewelry! Sad really. Just like with painting my nails - it's something I say I'm going to do more of (dress up outfits with jewelry). I'm going to have to check out everyone's links and find something for myself haha :) I am really loving that wishbone necklace! Can't wait to see which one will be the ONE! :)

i remember when you told me about this and i thought it was such a great idea!!! i love the wishbone one-- too bad she already has one like it :( i suck at "nice jewelry" because i like costume ones ha

and hearts ha i was going to suggest a fun one like this: http://spartan-shop.com/products/352-sweet-nothings-by-in-god-we-trust

ha

i'm sure whichever one you two pick will be BEAUTIFUL! sorry i'm not any help. i LOVED looking at you two best friends through the year. beautiful <3

ps. i know about "hart of dixie"-- i can't get over hearing "summer" (her character in the OC) and it's making it hard to believe she's a dr. ha but that's why it's a "guilty pleasure." WWCBD? lol xoxo

I'm not really into jewelry, so I don't know if I have any great suggestions, but I LOVE this idea and the wishbone is the BOMB!
