February Goals

I'm loving this whole monthly goal thing.  I'm finding that sticking to my goals is so much more doable when I've got a four-week time frame.  I set just two goals for January (with a bonus):

1. No cheese for the entire month
2. Clean and organize my closet
(bonus): Clean and organize my car

I was perfectly well-behaved with goal #1.  In the interest of full disclosure, I had a minor (accidental!) slip-up one night when Matt and I were out to dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant in North Beach, Cafe Zoetrope.  I dutifully ordered a vegan entree, but then Matt ordered a cannoli for dessert, and I took a little bite without thinking (it looked like whipped cream!).  He reminded me that it indeed contained ricotta cheese, but it was too late to spit it out.  Altogether a pretty minor indiscretion, though, I think.

As for the closet, I'd say it's about 75% complete.  I removed garbage bags full of trash and old clothes and shoes to donate, but there's still a little work to be done.  The good news is that I can walk in it now!

The car is another story.  That goal will have to transfer to February. ;)

Here are my February goals:

Are any of you working on monthly goals?  If so, please share them!

p.s. Another reason Mitt Romney is an enormous asshole. As if transporting his family dog on the roof of his car wasn't enough.

Good job! I set 52 goals for the year and crossed off 4 in January, so that's a good start. Aren't you so excited for cheese now?!

Not sure of my specific goals this month. Maybe I should determine some!!

I'm trying to follow your elections - I'm so interested - although there is little coverage here in NZ and a lot of what I am reading online feels heavily biased one way or the other! I would love to hear your opinions on what's going on though miss Claire, candidates and what you think obamas chances are.hmmm. I guess only time will tell.

That slip up doesn't count. Plus ricotta is the only gross cheese so I don't count it ;)

You kicked ass! That's awesome!! Keep it up in Feb! My goal needs to be to lose weight since my trip to NOLA is in just under 3 months. I need to have decent arms since it's going to be humid and I don't want to wear cardis!

Loving the idea of monthly goals. Today I did step one of one of my new years resolutions --- go to Fidelity and get someone to help me out and manage my investments (or lack thereof). I've been working on the couch to 10K for about 4 weeks now and love it. Then again, one of my new years goals was to get healthier, but my doc scared the crap out of me so I have that as all the motivation in the world. Thinking about being healthy and a doctor telling you that because of family history you are at risk for a, b, c, d, etc is another thing. Best of luck on the Feb goals. I might have to create a list of monthly goals too. But I tend to do a weekly check-list of items I need to get accomplished, do those count too? :)

I am so impressed with your no cheese goal. I literally probably eat cheese every day. What spawned this goal, I must know! And totally jealous of your closet being clean because you don't even want to see what mine looks like right now. It's SOOOOO bad. I'm actually hoping to tackle that tonight. I have 4 loads of clean laundry thrown on the floor in there. THAT IS SCUMMY!

I need to think of some goals, but I'm thinking maybe no fast food for a month. We shall see!

you are good with these month-long goals! maybe posting them on a blog acts as incentive to follow through on them. maybe that is what i should do, as i tend to make day-long goals that i BREAK. loser! lol!

mitt romney is an ENORMOUS ASSHOLE for about 4 million reasons. and counting. prick prick prick prick.

I only set 13 for the whole year. Anything else I do is a bonus. I like this idea though. I went without any dairy for a whole year while I was nursing so I understand how hard giving the cheese up.

I always have goals that I am focusing on. Gives me something to think about and a certain purpose to every day, if you will. Right now I am big on reading more (which I love but had stopped doing), trying to get healthy for a 2nd pregnancy and immersing myself in Church and activities there more. So far, so good. I like having things to work on - makes life more meaningful, I think!

I meant to jump on the monthly goal idea in January...and now it's February. Rather than beat myself up over it, I'll start now. Hmm......

I don't think the cheese incident counts at all! You're still free and clear! :)

And I'm so excited to read the update on your poem and/or manuscript submissions! How exciting!!
