Halloween Plans?

I used to pride myself on funny/unusual/ironic Halloween costumes.  I've never been interested in being Hoochie Bo Peep or Sexy Red Riding Hood . . . I figure if it's not totally awesome/unique or funny (or both!), it's lame.  I should look for costume pictures from over the years.  The only one I have at the ready is from the Halloween I was 14 months old:

Jennifer on the left, me on the right

I'm ashamed to admit that I've slacked off the past few years.  Maybe it's because Halloween so often falls in the middle of the week, maybe it's because we don't live in a neighborhood that gets a lot of trick-or-treaters, but I've fallen off the wagon.

We did do the pumpkin carving & scary movie things last year, so at least there's that.

So tell me: what are your Halloween plans?  What are some fun things for grownups to do?  Also: I need ideas for costumes.  Matt suggested we be Mario & Luigi, but I shut that down pretty quickly. ;)

Our Church always does a trunk or treat. I really want to hand out candy. So sweet to see the little ones.

ps... you are adorable!

I love this holiday! I decorate the house, host a pumpkin carving party, and always dress up. This year my sister and I are Thor and Loki. (We've been in a comic book mood lately). I enjoy spooky movies and books! Such a great month!

I LOVE Halloween. It really is my favorite holiday. My home is decorated to the max. I'm having a little party the wknd of 27th. I'm going to attempt to paint my face like Day of the Dead. Not sure what i'm going to wear though. If you were in Texas, you're invited to my party!

I'm SO sad I'm going to miss Halloween this year since I'll be in Australia. BUT I am planning on taking a haunted prison tour that night to keep me connected to the holiday ;)

I was so going to be Honey Boo Boo this year, too!

I am really excited about my costume this year. I am making a moth costume, and Nick is wiring an LED to come from my headband.... moth to a flame. He is going as a bug zapper which is pretty funny. I TOTALLY agree about the hoochie bo peep thing. Not fun.

You're so cute! I'm being Katniss Everdeen because I'm a HUGE nerd, but I've always wanted to be Peggy Bundy. I think it would be so fun. And the scary thing is you could probably go to Target to get your costume lol.

As for fun, I'm taking my kids trick or treating then "quality checking" their loot. I'd hate for them to get a bad reeses peanut butter cup. I mean, it's the responsible thing to do right?

what a cute picture!

i don't dress up anymore but when i used to go to halloween parties, there were tons of great costumes. one memorable one were two of my friends who did mario and luigi (i know you shot that down) and they fashioned two big boxes marked with a "?" dangling over their heads. inside each box were large, cardboard circles wrapped up in gold foil. when they jumped up and hit the boxes with their head, the gold coins would fly out, it was so awesome! they won the costume contest that year.

You're adorable! I always keep our costumes a secret, but we've got a family thing going on this year. Three years in a row I've gotten 2nd place at work, I need to get 1st place at least once!

we get NO trick-or-treaters, it's so sad!! i haven't dressed up since halloween 2008 (redneck bride and groom...it was AWESOME)...all of my friends have stopped throwing/wanting to go to parties. i figure we'll hit it back up full force once we have tiny ones to thrust my already-in-existence family costume ideas on =)

thse posts make me sad that we dont celebrate halloween here but my friend has actually decided to have a halloween themed bday party so I guess I get to dress up after all :) I think I would mainly just enjoy the scary movie part - I do enjoy a good scare every once and awhile.

I wish I was more into Halloween but I'm not :(
Christmas is more my thing.
Last year we handed out candy and that's about it.

I LOVE Halloween and this year it feels like it snuck up on me and I haven't really been able to get in the Halloween spirit. I am going to try and look at costumes this weekend because my friend sent me this Union Jack dress she saw at one of the shops and you know how I feel about that ;)

I LOVE baby Claire ;) Ya'll are so cute matching ;) I remember seeing a pic of you in your inmate Halloween costume (too funny!) you looked super hot!

I haven't done anything in years. Toddlers put a real damper on crazy Halloween nights. Boo! I'm with you on original costumes rather than slutty kitty. BTW, have you seen this slutty hamburger? Ugh! http://www.yandy.com/Sexy-Hamburger-Costume.php
